Head Women's Softball Coach

Susan painter played high school softball at South Plantation High School in Plantation, FL. From there she played at Florida State University from 1980-1984. In 1981 and 1982 FSU won the AIAW National Championship where Susan receiving MVP and All-American recognition. In 1986 she was a pitcher for the Tifton Tomboys and won the ASA National Open major slowpitch Championship. Susan began teaching and coaching at Duluth High School in Duluth, GA in 1986. She earned her Master's Degree in 1990 at Georgia State University. In 2000, Coach Painter was inducted in to the Florida State University Athletic Hall of Fame.

Painter began her career at Gulf Coast in 1993 where she has accumulated an impressive 670-206 record. She was honored in 2007 to co-coach the USA NJCAA All-stars at the World Games in Thailand.

Gulf Coast CC:  Blythe played under coach Susan Painter for two seasons. While at Gulf Coast she helped lead the team to the conference championship in 2005 and 2006; the 2005 State championship; and the 2006 national runner-up. As a freshman, Blythe earned First Team All-Conference, Conference Player of the Year, First Team All-Region, First Team All-State, and First Team All-American. As a sophomore, she received First Team All-Conference, First Team All-Region, First Team All-State and Second Team All-American. In the classroom Blythe faired just as well being selected to the Panhandle All-Academic team in 2005 and 2006; and the President's list in Spring 2006.

Stetson:  While at stetson, Blythe started at catcher in 126 of the team's 128 games over two seasons. All that time catching Stetson's fine pitching staff has enabled her to reach seventh place in career putouts (788). Her 2007 season she batted .240 with 11 doubles (good for second on the team and 11th in program history for a single season), four home runs and 23 RBI. Her 390 putouts are the sixth-highest season total in Stetson history. Golden homered in each game of a May 3 doubleheader at Jacksonville to lead the Hatters to a sweep and also belted a solo home run in the Atlantic Sun conference tournament against Lipscomb. A preseason All-Conference selection in 2008, Golden has hit six career home runs and driven in 38 runs in two seasons. Golden has walked 22 times and been hit by 10 pitches this season, helping her to record a .373 on-base percentage, fourth on the team. She will leave Stetson as one of the top defensive players at her position or any other. She also received the Wendell N. Jarrard Sr. Award for a student athlete who exemplifies academic excellence, athletic competition, leadership and moral values in 2008. Academic - BA in Sport Management 3.1 GPA and plans to obtain a MS in Kinesiology with a focus in coaching starting Fall 2009.

High School:  played under Coach Robyn Gauger at Marianna High School in Marianna, Fla. She helped lead her team to the 2004 district championship title; was selected to the National Honor Society, the Beta club and was an honor graduate.

Personal:  Blythe Alannah Golden was born on September 21, 1985 in Marianna, Fla. ... daughter of Alan and Deeanna Golden.

Was a nine time ASA Southeast Regional participant, a nine-time ISC Southeast Regional champion, a nine-time ASA U.S. National participant, a nine-time International Softball Congress World Tournament player and played on the All-Softball Team in South Wellington, New Zealand.
