GC win streak now 13

PANAMA CITY -- Gulf Coast boosted its winning steak to 13 games with a 9-3, 6-2 sweep over IMG Academy’s postgraduate program on Tuesday at Bill Frazier Field.


The Commodores, 18-2, backed Dylan Cyphert’s four-hit pitching with 10 hits in the opener. Eli Taylor had two hits and three runs batted in and Jeffrey Omohundro a single, double and two RBIs. Josh Nowak added two hits.


Cyphert improved to 3-0 with nine strikeouts in five innings. Charlie Greenich finished up for Gulf Coast.


Ken Adair’s put together his second conseuctive solid spot start in the second game. Adair, 2-0, allowed four hits and struck out 12 in six innings. Trey Leonard pitched a hitless seventh.


Jackson Webb had two singles and a double as the Commodores bunched only seven hits, four of them doubles. Webb, Jordan Tylski, Joe Sibeto and Rashard Ranie all knocked in runs, Gulf Coast taking control with three runs in the bottom of the second inning.


The Commodores, who haven’t lost a game since Super Bowl Sunday, host Wallace Dothan at 4 p.m. Thursday.
