GC Diamond teams take road wins

The Gulf Coast baseball team notched an 8-3 road victory over Tallahassee on Tuesday night, while the Lady Commodores softball squad split an away doubleheader with Pensacola State.

Peyton Knight started on the mound for the Commodores (21-15 overall, 3-9 in the Panhandle Conference), going 4 1/3 innings and giving up two hits and eight walks while striking out one.

Frank Furey got the win for an inning and 1/3 of relief in which he allowed two unearned runs on one hit and a walk with two strikeouts. Alex Lozado went the final three innings to earn the save, surrendering one earned run on three hits with two strikeouts.

Trace Moore took the loss for the Eagles (23-16, 4-8), allowing two earned runs on two hits and two walks in 4 1/3 innings of work.

Stevie Moffatt led the GC offense, going 3 for 5 with three RBI, while Brett Wisely was 2 for 5 with two doubles and two RBI, and Brycen Braswell 2 for 4 with four runs and an RBI. Justin Kelley was 1 for 5 with a double and an RBI.

Taylor Lomack led Tallahassee with three hits, including a double, two walks, and a run. Trent Jeffcoat was also 1 for 4 with an RBI.
