ENTERPRISE, Ala. — The Gulf Coast men’s basketball team made it four wins in a row Tuesday night with a 91-89 road victory over Enterprise State.

It was the third victory in the last five days for the Commodores (4-1), though it required a substantial second-half rally. Enterprise State led 47-36 at halftime, but Gulf Coast stormed back to take the lead with five minutes to play and never relinquished it. The Boll Weevils (0-5) hit a 3-pointer from midcourt at the buzzer for the final margin.

Jacolbey Owens led the Commodores with 26 points and eight rebounds on 9 of 15 shooting from the field and 8 of 10 from the foul line. Maurice Gordon added 21 points on 8 of 10 from the floor and 5 of 6 from the charity stripe.

Gulf Coast coach Jay Powell said that the two freshmen were the catalysts for the Commodores on a night they needed them to be after a sluggish start.

“They both played really hard and played really well,” he said. “They were really the two guys who were in it all game. To be freshmen and be on the road and come out ready to play, they did a really good job.”

Reggie Rivera also had 17 points for Gulf Coast, followed by Cameron Holden with 11, and Jerrel Kelly with 10. KK Godwin finished with six points, seven assists, and two steals. Xavier Smith was the top scorer for Enterprise State with 25 points.

The Commodores will next play Friday and Saturday in Niceville against Southwest Mississippi and Spartanburg Methodist.
