Gulf Coast rallies past Pensacola 7-6

PANAMA CITY — Gulf Coast scored two runs in the bottom of the sixth inning to rally past Pensacola State and take a 7-6 victory on Friday night at Joe Tom King Field.

With the win, the Commodores improved to 34-15 overall and 11-8 in the Panhandle Conference. Pensacola State fell to 27-19 and 7-11 in the conference.

Trailing 6-5 in the sixth inning, Gulf Coast got a lead-off single by Dixie Guesnard, followed by an infield single by Sam Sisco, and an RBI double by Kaylee Raines to tie the game up.

Kristina Warford then came up with an RBI sacrifice fly to allow Sisco to tag up and score from third for the go-ahead run.

Raines finished 2 for 4 with two doubles and an RBI, while Sisco was 2 for 4 with a double and two RBI. Warford was 2 for 3 with a double and two RBI. Brianna Hill and Taylor Robinson each added a double and an RBI.

Taylor Cochrane pitched four innings of relief for the Commodores to get the win.

Gulf Coast will be back in action on Monday for a home game against Northwest Florida State at 4 p.m.

It’s the final regular season Panhandle Conference game for the Commodores before they host the conference tournament on April 18-19.
