Lady Commodores sweep home doubleheader

PANAMA CITY — The Gulf Coast softball team swept a home doubleheader Sunday afternoon at Joe Tom King Field, knocking off Lake Michigan 4-0 and Spartanburg Methodist 9-2.

The Lady Commodores (17-4) have now won seven games in a row. Brittany Crowson pitched the first game and went the distance to get the win, allowing just five hits and striking out four.

Belle Wolfenden led the offense with a double and two RBI, while Hayden Lindsay had a double and an RBI, and Sam Sisco two hits and an RBI.

Hannah Poole went six innings against Spartanburg Methodist to get the victory, striking out 11 batters and surrendering four hits.

Kristina Warford went 3 for 4 with a home run, two doubles, and three RBI, with Taylor Robinson finishing 2 for 4 with a triple, a double, and three RBI. Brianna Hill also homered and drove in three runs.

Dixie Guesnard and Allie Farrow added two hits each. Gulf Coast will play again at home Monday with a doubleheader against Kankakee starting at 4 p.m.
