PENSACOLA — Gulf Coast’s volleyball team kept its postseason hopes alive with a dominant three-set victory over Pensacola State on Wednesday night. The Lady Commodores won 25-13, 25-17, 25-10 to improve to 14-6 overall and 1-2 in Panhandle Conference play. The Lady Pirates dropped to 20-3 overall and 2-1 in the league.

The two teams will face off again on Wednesday at the Billy Harrison Field House at 6 p.m. with the Lady Commodores again needing to win to avoid elimination from the state tournament. A victory for Gulf Coast would force a fifth and deciding match to determine the conference champion.

In Wednesday’s match, Jenna Erwin led Gulf Coast with 13 kills and 15 digs while adding two blocks, while Jordan Rayburn had 11 kills and 10 digs.

Tessa Morken contributed 12 digs and Delia Morin led the Lady Commodores with 30 assists to go with eight digs and a kill. Kiana Yangson had seven digs and an assist, with Shelby Freese producing four kills and four digs. Madison Pickens and Taylor Lawhon had five kills each.
