Lady Commodores win big, move to 10-0

MARIANNA — The Gulf Coast women’s basketball team kept its unbeaten record intact Friday night with an 82-49 win over St. Petersburg in the Florida College Women’s Basketball Shootout.

 

Freshman forward Jhaleiya Dunlap led the Lady Commodores (10-0) with 18 points and 10 blocked shots, with Shayla Bennett adding 16 points, Taylor Emery 12, and Raven Fox 10 in her first game of the season after missing the first nine due to injury. LaSonja Edwards also had nine points and seven rebounds, and Maria Castro seven points and 11 rebounds. Taneria Wilson led St. Petersburg with 18 points.

 

Gulf Coast led 39-23 at halftime and blew the game open by outscoring St. Petersburg 22-9 in the third quarter to take a 29-point edge into the fourth. The Lady Commodores play at Chipola again today against Eastern Florida State at 4 p.m.
