GCSC Offers Summer Swim Lessons

Panama City, FL – Gulf Coast State College’s Wellness & Athletics Division is offering the American Red Cross “Learn to Swim” Program this summer starting May 12 through July 31 at GCSC’s Panama City Campus pool.

Registration is now open for Parent and Child Aquatics, Pre-school Aquatics, Learn to Swim Aquatics and Adult Beginning Swimming. The cost for the two week courses is $60 for children 6 months through adult.

NJCAA All-Star Women's Basketball Showcase

Gulf Coast State College and the Panhandle Conference were well represented at this year's NJCAA All-Star Women's Basketball event. The weekend showcased the "Top 40" JUCO Sophomores competing in a three day event that included workouts, practices and each player competing in two games performing in of front coaches from over 40 colleges. GCSC was represented by Taylor Shaw and Chelsey Gibson. On opening day of the games, Shaw scored 8 points in a variety of ways. Later on open day, Gibson led her team to victory with 8 points. On the second day of action, Shaw and Gibson's teams squared off against each other. Shaw's team held on to a late lead to win, but Gibson stole the show scoring a game high 21 points.

GC’s Wade ready for challenge as new softball coach

PANAMA CITY — Gulf Coast missed out on Beth Wade in 2000. It didn’t in 2014.

Wade was formally introduced on Thursday as the school’s new head softball coach. She becomes only the second coach in program history in replacing Susan Painter, who won 895 games in 20 seasons.
