Head Coach Rory Kuhn earns 100th Gulf Coast State Coaching Career win
Panama City, FL- Gulf Coast State College Athletics is excited to spotlight the outstanding accomplishments of Lady Commodores Head Coach Rory Kuhn, who continues to lead the program to new heights. Kuhn also reached a major milestone this season after defeating Enterprise State on Saturday, December 6th 120-27, earning his 100th career coaching win while at Gulf Coast State. During his four seasons at Gulf Coast St., Kuhn's teams have posted season records of 19-10 in 2021-22, 25-5 in 2022-23, 27-6 in 2023-24, and 20-8 in 2024-25. Under his leadership, the Lady Commodores have won a conference championship, finished fifth at the National Tournament, and held the #1 national ranking in back-to-back years. He has also coached multiple All-Americans, All-State, and All-Conference standouts during his time in Panama City.
Now entering his fifth season, Kuhn has his 2025-26 team off to another strong start. The Lady Commodores are ranked #4 in the nation and are putting up impressive numbers on both ends of the floor. They lead the country in scoring at 99.5 points per game and rank second in total rebounds with 55.2 per game and defensive rebounds with 37.7. Gulf Coast St. is also second in assists, averaging 23 per contest, while shooting 46.2 percent from the field and 73.1 percent from the free-throw line.
Sophomore forward Arianny Francisco De Oliveira has been a major force this season. She is ranked eighth in the nation in field goals at 87-for-163, sixth in total points with 243, and first in points per game with an impressive 22.1. She also ranks 17th nationally in free throws at 49-for-58 and is shooting a strong 40.8 percent from beyond the arc. Sophomore guard Kayla Hopson is making her mark as well, standing 11th in the nation with 60 assists. Right behind her, sophomore Graca Barbosa ranks 19th with 53 assists. In the paint, sophomore Angela Minja has become a defensive anchor, ranking 10th in the country with 23 blocks.
The Lady Commodores have three non-conference games left before turning their focus to Panhandle Conference play. The Lady Commodores opens conference action at home on January 14 against Chipola College at 5:15pm in the Billy Harrison Fieldhouse.
