AVCA Two-year Colleges Southeast Region Coach of the Year
Panama City, Fla. — Gulf Coast State College Athletics is proud to announce that Women's Volleyball Head Coach Scott Allen has been named the 2025 AVCA Two-Year College Southeast Region Coach of the Year.
Coach Allen guided the Lady Commodores to an outstanding 32-5 record this season, closing the year with an impressive .865 winning percentage. Under his leadership, Gulf Coast secured a historic third-place finish at the NJCAA Division II Volleyball Championship—the highest placement in program history.
In addition to the regional honor, Coach Allen was named the Sun Lakes Conference Coach of the Year. His leadership helped elevate the entire roster, with four players earning All-Sun Lakes Conference selections and two players being named to the All-FCSAA Team.
Outside hitter Donna Aguilera delivered one of the most dominant seasons in program history. She earned All-Tournament Team honors at the FCSAA Division II Tournament and continued her standout play on the national stage, claiming a spot on the NJCAA All-Tournament Team. Aguilera finished the season with 482 kills and 552 digs and is currently ranked No. 1 nationally in individual statistical categories.
Setter Melany Salazar also played a crucial role, recording 908 assists and anchoring the Lady Commodores' offensive rhythm throughout the season.
Middle blocker Kya Colston made a significant defensive impact, finishing the year with 98 total blocks and helping strengthen Gulf Coast's presence at the net.
The 2025 season stands as a remarkable milestone for Coach Allen and the Lady Commodores, further establishing Gulf Coast State College as one of the nation's premier volleyball programs.
