Lady Commodores finish 2nd among NJCAA programs

VALDOSTA, Ga. – Competing under temperatures pushing 90 degrees, the Lady Commodores opened their 2025 season at the VSU CC Border Clash. Against a strong field of 13 teams, Gulf Coast finished fifth overall, securing second place among NJCAA programs while also defeating two NCAA Division II opponents.
 
Head Coach Tom Dever noted the value of the early-season test. "We had some first race jitters today, but we learned some good lessons and overall it was a decent start to the season," Dever said. "We are looking forward to improving during our next race in Pensacola, Florida, at the Argos Invite."
 
The Lady Commodores will return to action on September 12 at the Argos Invite, hosted by the University of West Florida.
