Marianna, FL-The Gulf Coast State Commodores picked up a pair of strong wins over Chipola on Thursday, earning a doubleheader sweep with scores of 10-0 and 13-5.
In game one, Gulf Coast State used a big day from the bottom of the lineup to take control early. Audreya White, Coco Rudolph, and Jaidyn Ivey combined for five hits and five runs scored. The Lady Commodores got on the board in the second inning when Ally Henderson drove in two runs with a single and Tylaya Lingo added an RBI hit. They later pulled away with five runs in the fifth inning, highlighted by a triple from Ivey and a three-run double from Stokes.
Natalie Cole led the way in the circle, tossing a complete game shutout. She allowed just one hit over five innings while striking out six and walking one to earn the win. Gulf Coast State finished with nine hits, played clean defense without an error, and showed patience at the plate with four walks.
In game two, Gulf Coast stayed in control with a 13-5 win in six innings. Lingo gave the Commodores an early lead with an RBI double in the first inning. After Chipola tied the game, Ella Grace Kelley responded with a two-run home run in the fourth to put Gulf Coast back in front. The Lady Commodores broke the game open in the sixth inning, scoring six runs. Kelley and Aasia Scerbo each drove in a run, Ivey added an RBI walk, and White delivered a three-run double to extend the lead.
Madison Laiche earned the win in the circle, allowing five runs over six innings while striking out four. Gulf Coast collected 11 hits in the game, with Kelley, Ivey, Henderson, and Scerbo each recording two. White, Kelley, Ivey, and Scerbo all drove in three runs to lead the offense.
